MONTREE

The project reimagines Milan’s covered market on Viale Monza, revitalizing its interior while preserving the historic outer shell.

The intervention restores the original vaulted space, hidden for decades, and reshapes the market’s sales and dining areas into an open, light-filled environment.

At its core stands a 13-meter steel “tree” structure that rises through the vault. Its trunk and branches host Radio Nolo’s studios, Politecnico di Milano’s Off-Campus hub, and reading and relaxation areas.

At ground level, suspended cables transform the structure into an exhibition space where materials seem to float in mid-air.
